I felt sort of disconnected with the Facade team; I don't know most of you, and we don't get to interact outside of the IRC. I see the updates on the game from the main page, but I don't have a sense of what everyone's working on, or a sense that I'm actually working with a team of people. I don't think I'm the only one who feels that way.

EDIT: Okay, so I'm definitely not the only one who feels similarly. Yay for not being crazy!

Game development teams are undoubtedly stronger with a stronger community. It gives people incentive to work, because now you're not just working for yourself - you're working for a whole bunch of people you love!

That's why I took the liberty of creating a forum. I hope no one minds.

I like the IRC chat, and this won't make it obsolete; but it will preserve conversations about development issues for future reference, and also for the unlucky people who log in 2 minutes late and miss epic and relevant conversations.
